 Kim G., SLP

Speech Therapist

Kim is a licensed speech-language pathologist with over a decade of experience helping children find their voice. Passionate about helping children and families thrive through inclusive, creative, and evidence-based therapy. She has experience within the areas of Articulation and Phonology, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Feeding, Fluency/Stuttering, Language Disorders, Pragmatics, Pathological Demand Avoidance, and Voice Disorders. Kim is a neurodiversity-trained professional who is committed to empowering children to advocate for themselves with confidence and authenticity.

Raised in South Africa, Kim developed a deep-rooted passion for connection and communication that continues to shape her work today. Her adopted sister’s own speech and language journey deeply influenced her passion for speech-language pathology, inspiring Kim’s commitment to inclusive, client-centered care.

From a young age, Kim felt called to the field of speech-language pathology, but after immigrating to the United States, she worried her accent might hold her back. Encouraged by supportive faculty who reminded her that her voice was a strength, not a barrier. She felt strengthened by her experience with accent modification therapy; Kim now speaks with both an American and South African accent. A skill she uses to empower others to embrace their own unique voice. Having experienced therapy herself, Kim understands what it’s like to be a patient. She knows the frustration, the vulnerability, and the triumphs that unfold in the therapy room. That empathy shapes her practice and deepens her commitment to better supporting her clients during therapy.

After graduate school, Kim accepted a position as a speech-language pathologist at an elementary school. Kim brings nearly a decade of school-based experience as a speech-language pathologist, supporting students across diverse educational settings in both California and North Carolina. She has led comprehensive assessments, developed individualized therapy plans, and collaborated closely with educators and families to ensure meaningful progress.

Kim has lived in Raleigh for the past ten years with her husband and two young children, navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood. These personal experiences have deepened her understanding of what families face and strengthened her commitment to supporting children in their communication journey where growth feels possible and progress is celebrated.
