Megan, M.A., CCC-SLP

Speech Language Pathologist

Megan is a kindhearted Speech Language Pathologist who is passionate about serving the pediatric and school-age population. She has supported children with expressive-receptive language disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders, speech-sound disorders, oral-motor disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disability. Megan is thoughtful in creating individualized treatment plans. She works with caregivers to ensure that goals are functional and provides strategies to facilitate carryover. Megan is committed to helping children communicate effectively to increase independence and overall quality of life.

Growing up in Connecticut, Megan originally wanted to become a teacher. She shadowed at a local elementary school where she met an SLP for the first time. After learning more, she found that she was able to strongly empathize with people diagnosed with communication disorders. Having lost her mom as a child and struggling to communicate her emotions, Megan often felt isolated and misunderstood. Therefore, she felt compelled to help others who may be struggling with similar feelings.

In her career, Megan has had the opportunity to work with children of all ages in different settings. First, she worked as a clinician in a private practice in California. Sessions took place in-clinic primarily with pediatric clients diagnosed with mixed expressive-receptive language disorders. Then she spent two years in a grade 6-8 middle-school providing school-based services for expressive-receptive language, fluency, articulation, and pragmatic language. Megan acted as an integral part of the IEP team supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability, Emotional Disturbance, Hearing Impairment and Other Health Impairment (e.g., ADHD). She was responsible for completing comprehensive speech-language evaluations to determine eligibility for school-based services based on the Speech Language Impairment criteria. Upon moving to Raleigh, Megan worked in three charter schools with students in grades K-12 and provided home-based speech therapy for pediatric clients. She gained experience treating a student with an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device. Megan also administered hearing screenings and speech-language screenings to kindergarteners.

Megan’s experience living in several states with different demographics has allowed her to develop strong cultural competence. Now living in Raleigh, Megan is enthusiastic about establishing connections with children and families and making a positive contribution to the community.
