Occupational Therapist
Allie Newton is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist and a graduate from Spalding University in Kentucky with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. Allie started off her college years knowing she wanted to work with children and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development.
Allie has experience as a pediatric occupational therapist in various settings including school-based, private clinic, non-profit clinic, daycares and homes. Allie has conducted evaluations and treatment for children with a variety of diagnoses including sensory processing disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Hemiplegia, Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy, Dyspraxia, difficulties with behavioral modulation and emotional regulation, delays in play and/or social skills, Fine Motor Delays, and Visual Perceptual difficulties.
Allie is a DIR Floortime certified therapist. DIR Floortime is an intervention that is used to promote an individual’s development through a play-based approach and emphasizing the child’s interests. DIR values individual differences (neurodiversity) and helping every person achieve their fullest potential using a developmental approach. Allie is specially trained in the Handwriting Without Tears protocol, Sensational Brain (sensory processing and self-regulation), the Zones of Regulation protocol. She also has experience with oral motor feeding techniques and sensory integration/sensory diets.
In her free time she enjoys playing disc golf, baking, crocheting, sewing, and anything craft related! She is excited to work with your family and to use her years of experience, creativity and play-based approaches to help your child reach their highest potential.
