Evan, MS, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Evan is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 10 years of experience specializing in early intervention with a range of communication delays and disorders including a focused interest in supporting autistic/neurodivergent children. She has worked with diverse pediatric caseloads across schools, clinics, and home-based settings, employing a creative, adaptive approach to therapy. Drawing on her background in the performing arts, Evan integrates clients’ unique interests and learning styles into her therapeutic practices, utilizing movement and visual support to enhance engagement and progress.

Originally from Florence, South Carolina, Evan was a shy child who found self-expression and confidence through theatre and dance. This transformative experience ignited her passion for helping children with communication differences discover new ways to express themselves and connect with others.

Evan holds a double major in Communication Disorders and Dance from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. After volunteering with a non-profit organization in Ghana, West Africa, she earned her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Sydney, Australia. Following graduation, she worked with a non-profit in Australia as part of a transdisciplinary team at a preschool for children with complex needs, including various disabilities. Upon returning to the United States, she worked in Virginia Beach, VA, in a multidisciplinary private practice and with the Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia. Most recently, she spent six years living, working, and raising her children in New Zealand, an experience that deepened her ability to connect with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Evan is a certified Hanen Centre Speech-Language Pathologist, including training in the More Than Words program, which supports parents of autistic children. She has also led numerous parent and teacher training workshops tailored to the specific needs of various groups. The Hanen approach is a parent-centered intervention model that equips caregivers with strategies to foster their child’s communication and social-emotional development through everyday interactions. After becoming a parent herself, Evan gained a greater appreciation for the importance of integrating these strategies into families’ daily routines, ensuring that interventions complement, rather than disrupt, their busy lives.

Outside of work, Evan enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family, including her husband, two children, and two fur babies. She also continues to embrace dance in her life.
