Kayla, MS, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

Kayla’s entire OT career has consisted of working in pediatrics. She has experience in outpatient and home health settings, treating children from 2 months to 15 years old. She has experience with developmental and intellectual delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down’s syndrome, rare genetic diseases, feeding difficulties, sensory processing disorders, TBI, cerebral palsy, fine and gross motor delays, prematurity, and global delays.

Kayla has led case reports and continuing education presentations, been a mentor for new grads and new hires, and works closely with therapy teams to create a collaborative approach to care.

Kayla is an Ohio native, growing up in Cincinnati, OH and graduating from the University of Findlay with her Masters in Occupational Therapy. Before moving to NC, Kayla worked in a split position of outpatient pediatrics and adult acute care and ICU. Her outpatient experience included working with children from ages 2-15 years old with varying diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down’s syndrome, genetic disorders, fine and visual motor delays, sensory processing disorder, developmental delays and more. As an outpatient OT, Kayla co-treated, and worked closely with speech therapy and physical therapy.

Kayla and her husband moved to NC in 2023, and she has been working in home health ever since. She prides herself on a play-based approach to therapy with a strong understanding of the importance of caregiver involvement and inclusion to sessions. She loves to keep OT sessions creative and focused on what motivates her patients whether working on fine or gross motor, visual motor, feeding, attention, or daily living skills.

When not working, Kayla and her husband love finding new parks to take their daughter, trying new restaurants, and walking their 2 cats.

Kayla understands the decision on finding an OT to work closely with their child is not taken lightly and would be honored to work with your family!
