Occupational Therapist
Lauren has evaluated and treated clients of varying ages and functional abilities, with diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, developmental delay, learning disability, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Anxiety. Lauren has experience working with children in homes, daycares and in the outpatient pediatric clinic setting. Lauren has co-treated with Speech Therapists and has been in close contact with client’s school-based therapists, teachers and psychologists in order to facilitate coordinated care.
Lauren moved to Apex, North Carolina from New Jersey in 2006. She left the Raleigh area only to attend undergraduate and graduate school, returning to settle down in Cary, North Carolina with her husband. Lauren completed a Level II Fieldwork placement at an outpatient pediatric Sensory Integration clinic and began working at this same clinic upon graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Occupational Therapy program.
Lauren has worked with children focusing on sensory integration, feeding challenges, self-regulation challenges, fine and gross motor skills, praxis, attention and focus difficulties and developing adaptive/self-help skills.
Lauren has been guided by sensory integration theory throughout her practice. Lauren enjoys the opportunity to support children’s learning and development through play and meaningful occupations. She is excited to focus solely on treating within natural environments. Lauren is looking forward to the opportunity to work closely with families in order to further support clients in reaching their goals.
