Taylor, OT/L

Taylor has evaluated and treated children with varying diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, ADHD, downs syndrome, picky eating, developmental delays, behavioral concerns, trauma and a variety of genetic/chromosomal disorders. Taylor has experience collaborating with physical therapists, speech language pathologists, teachers, dietitians, and pediatricians to best meet the child’s and family’s goals.

Taylor graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Human Physiology. Taylor then attended and graduated from St. Ambrose University with a Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy. While at St. Ambrose, she developed school re-entry programs for children with chronic illnesses and injuries at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Since graduation, Taylor has worked in the outpatient pediatric setting focusing on sensory integration, self-regulation, picky eating, fine and gross motor, attention, and self-care skills. Taylor has extensive training in sensory processing, feeding, DIR Floortime, reflex integration, behavior modification and trauma informed practice. Taylor’s goal is to help children improve their participation and independence through use of developmental milestones and play. Taylor collaborates with families developing attainable goals that are important to both the child and their family. She enjoys the use of play and child lead therapy to help make progress towards these goals and integrating family into therapy sessions to foster strong relationships and increase progress outside of sessions.

Taylor recently moved to Durham from Iowa with her husband and dog and is looking forward to exploring the new area and meeting new friends.
