Elisha OTD, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Elisha is a dedicated pediatric occupational therapist and educator who uses an asset-based approach to treating children with a variety of disabilities. Elisha has over ten years of experience working with children and families facing conditions such as developmental delays, Autism, regulation disorders, ADHD, and learning disabilities. She is very passionate about client-centered care, creative problem solving, and parent education. Elisha believes strongly in delivering evidence-based interventions and is passionate about helping children reach their full potential.
Elisha began her career as an occupational therapist in Northern Virginia, serving children and adolescents with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, developmental delays, ADHD, and sensory processing challenges. She has worked across a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, public charter schools, telehealth, and preschool environments. She received specialized training in intervention approaches such as Integrated Listening System, Handwriting Without Tears, Astronaut training, Zones of Regulation, and feeding therapy. While treating, she noticed a need for additional research related to approaches targeting sensory processing disorders. She developed a desire to deepen her knowledge and returned to school.
Throughout her career, Elisha has worked closely with interdisciplinary teams to provide personalized care plans and strategies for children in grades PreK–12 and beyond. She enjoys leading social-sensory groups, fine motor boot camps, designing obstacle courses with the just-right level of difficulty, and writing newsletters for families and caregivers. She enjoys providing tips and strategies for families to help their children practice skills learned during the session. Elisha has worked with children with intellectual disorders and sensory disorders to help them gain greater independence with daily tasks such as showering, brushing their teeth, riding a bike, tying their shoes, setting the table, completing their chores, and grooming.
Outside of work, Elisha enjoys attending local festivals, volunteering, painting, reading, and taking nature walks with her “dog-ter” Coco (French Bulldog).
